Child labor is something that still shocks me too much, I think that children should play, not work ... What is?
Child labor in general is prohibited by law. Specifically, the cruelest forms of child labor are not only prohibited, but also a crime.
Where does it exist?
Child labor is common in developing countries. One of these countries is Brazil, in the poorest regions, this type of work is quite common. Most often occurs due to the need to help the family financially. Many of these families are generally of poor people who have many children.
The International Labor Organization says that, in general, work is prohibited before age 16. But in the case of the poorest countries it is accepted that young people can start working for 14 years. Anyway this organization also recommends that the heavier work that may endanger the health, safety or morality of the child, only should start working at 18 years.
The Worst Work
This Organization is also a selection of the worst work that child can do.
They are: the slave labor, the work arising from the traffic of children, the use of adolescents in armed conflict, prostitution and pornography to minors, the use of children for illicit activities such as drug traffic.
A work where children are most exploited is the exploitation of coal mines, because they are small, light and agile to be able to walk will be inside the mine.
Work that can be considered crime:
- Child labor slave.
- Ill - treatment.
- Exploitation of the prostitution of minors.
- Pornography for minors.
- Sale or trafficking of children.
Here's an example of something that should never happen, force small children to work. This is why in many places, kids don't have the same education we have and the opportunity to go to school.
