Marlee Matlin, "leading lady" for people with disabilities

I decided to post this video because I found the video very interesting, and I think this woman is very courageous. I think it's important that disabled people struggle to be seen equal in the world of work. For example this woman is a normal person, she's only deaf, and she does everything that someone else does. I think it's important that nowadays people open their eyes and see that we are all equal, and it won't be a small thing that will change that.

Congratulations Marlee Matlin for fighting for your rights.

How to enter the world of work

The most important document to access the world of work is the curriculum. The curriculum is a summary of our data, our training, our experience and even our non-professional activities. The curriculum is an image of ourselves, and a well made curriculum opens’ us doors to good jobs. It’s important a careful presentation of our curriculum.

The curriculum should include a personal identification with all the data needed to be contactable, the education level, the averages obtained, etc; vocational training such as diplomas acquired, domain of a certain language, literacy, among others; the experience, which must be written with the rigor of work experience and internships made; and finally extra-professional activities, such as activities of leisure, cultural activities, etc…

A curriculum should meet the following rules:
· Be written by computer and have no spelling mistakes
· Do not exceed 2 to 3 pages
· Be written in 1st person and be clear with what you can do
· Do not write the numbers in words
· Write the date always the same way
· If you use acronyms, write its significance

If you have a good curriculum, presentable and with the aspects mentioned above, the employer will have a good idea of you, and if you have the right skills, you can get a good job.

Advantages and disadvantages of technology

The technologies are not always a solid method to work, since they have different advantages and disadvantages. As we have advantages: a more rapid communication, which reduces the distance-time and also an increasingly lower cost, such as the Internet.

As disadvantages we have the uncertainty, the computer viruses, sometimes impossible for the workers performing their work, the danger of fraud in electronic commerce for example.

The lack of attention to issues of ethical, dangers associated with "living" with strangers on the Internet and ultimately dangerous for human health (emission of harmful radiation and problems of dependency).

As we can see, there are more disadvantages than advantages, and sometimes the home is not always the most profitable.

Rights and duties of workers

For to enter the world working people have rights and duties to fulfil, so that there is moderation, rules and discipline in the workplace. Certain rights are:
* Be treated with equal access to employment, vocational training and promotion;
* Work a maximum of 40 hours per week and 8 hours per day, except for special situations such as under the adaptability;
* At least one rest day per week;
* Receive a special consideration by the night-time work;
* Resort to strike to defend their interests.

This is only a few workers' rights, in labour relations.
Now then present some of the duties of the employee:
* To deal with education and employment, fellow workers and other persons who establish business relations;
* Attend the service with diligence and punctuality;
* Perform the work with zeal and diligence;
* Comply with the orders of the employer in all respects to the performance of work, except insofar as it was against their rights and guarantees;
* Save loyalty to the employer, including not negotiating for himself or others in competition with him, or disseminating information concerning its organization, methods of production or business.
So if we carry out our duties, the work will be done more clearly and more easily met.

Occupations of the future

The labour market is expanding its area and it’s good to keep an eye and see if you can combine pleasure with money. You have to see if your course is your face and if it’s considered as a gainful way of the future. New courses appear every day in order to meet demands of the labour market by practitioners or by the division of traditional skills. Some new graduates may represent good opportunities for work. Here are two examples of occupations of the future.

Gerontology
The Gerontology is the science that studies the aging process of human beings and ways of promoting better quality of life. The gerontology can create and implement projects that promote the happiness of the elderly population, working in public agencies in the area of social assistance. This professional is able to assist people in the 3rd age, acting against discrimination and encouraging them to develop activities that cause them pleasure and social inclusion. Specific groups such as residents of the street, old people abandoned by families, immigrants and people with special needs may be the focus of the work of gerontology. Hospitals, clinics, specialized clinics, health centres and coexistence, non-governmental organizations and houses of families are some of the places where their assistance is most required.

Communication of the Arts of bodies
This course is new and toward those who consider the body as the primary means of human communication, even before the drawings and speech. The art produced by the body is seen as one of the steps of the man in your evolutionary process. By understanding the body as part of the language you can search the artistic creations of dance, theatre and performance as processes of communication. The profession is not yet on the market, but it is possible to predict its success, because innovation is a concern in research on knowledge that until then were isolated, as communication and the arts. This professional will be able to develop new techniques of communication body, scenic procedures, and use technology as ally in the development of innovations in the advertising market and medium.

Air hostess

An air hostess is a professional who works on board an aircraft, ensuring the safety of passengers.

The profession of air hostess, first emerged in 1930 by a claiming woman, Ellen Church, who was in love with aviation but couldn’t fly a plane because she was a woman, Ellen Church suggested the Boeing Air Transport to put nurses on aircraft to care for the health and safety of passengers during the flight. The first women to be hired should be unmarried, they couldn’t have children, and they should obey to a standard of weight and height, but they had a very low salary. The idea was very successful, because women on board passed safety to passengers, since the women were considered a weak figure, and having women working on board was the idea for travellers that the plane was not as dangerous as they thought. Because of the World War II, nurses were called to the battlefield and airlines began to place women in top-level board, but without losing the charm and elegance, as this would represent the professional company.

From the moment the passenger enters the aircraft, their safety and comfort are the responsibility of the air hostess. The air hostess demonstrates emergency procedures adopted by the company and take care of passengers throughout the journey.

The first air hostess uniforms were designed to be durable, practical, and inspire confidence in passengers. The first air hostess uniform for United Airlines wore green berets, green capes and nurse's shoes.
Air hostess are generally expected to show a high level of personal grooming. Female attendants are expected to use appropriate cosmetics, and all attendants must have very high levels of personal hygiene.
Air hostess must not have any tattoos visible when a uniform is worn. These requirements are designed to give the airlines a positive representation.

Fathers:

The number of priests in Portugal came to decline in recent years. This is reflected in the new demographic order and distance society from the Church, thereby lowering the parish priests. Previously in families with more than one child, according to family tradition, one of them went to Father. Mainly in the 60s, one of the family was the priesthood. One of the causes of the reduction of the priesthood was the declining number of children per couple.

In 54 priests were ordained in 2000 and in 2007 there was a decrease, since only 31 were ordained priests and 68 priests have died. Increasing the number of available priests is a degree more advanced age through a serious crisis. Although more and more parents want to reach young people, they are not as interested and motivated by the vocation of the priesthood.

The Prostitution:

Prostitution is the provision of sexual satisfaction in exchange for monetary assets.

There are several types of prostitution: a heterosexual male and female, adult and child and also a homosexual.

Currently about eight million children are exploited by networks engaged in prostitution and slavery.

It extended the number of children who are prostitutes, from babies to adulthood, accompanied by adults or young males.

Also many women are abducted circumvented in the promise of a better life, are being exploited for slave labor in factories or mines or for prostitution.
Prostitution may have two parts, may or may not be considered a profession because it can be done by holding or by taste.

From country to country are changing laws: in France prostitution is not approved but it’s not illegal, it’s illegal in Sweden and the customer can be fined and sentenced to six months in prison; in Holland prostitution is considered a profession, in Portugal it’s not prohibited but when it is operating for profit or reward it’s prohibited.

Fisherman:

When fishing draw up living the aquatic environment where they have developed for various purposes.

Fishing is a profession as old as the game that has evolved. Already in the time of Jesus the Christ was a large fishing industry, fishermen working on their own or in groups. Even then there were associations today called by unions.

The fish was stored in amphorae, which developed the pottery that was necessary because of the different types of network, which created the jobs programs. As the boats were essential, shipbuilding also employed large numbers of people.

Slavery

Hundreds of children are slaves, working without receiving anything in return, trying to escape this cycle of abuse they face. The slavery exists when a human being exercising power over another by means of force.

In some societies the slaves were seen as a commodity where prices varied according to sex, age and place where they would work. There are several cases of child slavery, here is one: Alia Camará, worked in carpentry and went to school in the town of Kindia, the central part of Guinea-Conakry, but when his father died the older brother took him to a man who had the same surname, because people think there is a degree of kinship when the surname is the same.

So to convince the tutor to let him be an apprentice carpenter Alia was forced to sell plastic buckets on the streets. Despite having changed its "occupation", Alia is not being paid but feels confident in its future. "I would like to open a carpentry and save other children in the same situation, and if one day I have a child, he will help him and I will always ensure him to study to learn a profession."

Alia Camará planning a door

They are also a number of immigrants who fall in the clutches of mafia organizations that enslave. They start by getting them the documentation that serves as an excuse to pay the debt of travel, accommodation and bribe the authorities to be able to stay in the country. Shortly after these immigrants realize that this debt is not netted and to grow. Alone, unknown in the language of the country that are illegal and undocumented, immigrants become an easy prey for the mafia organizations.

There are some traylers of movies about slavery:

Jobs for disabled people:

There are several associations that seek to give employment to the handicapped, one is APEDV (Employment Promotion Association of Blind) which belongs to the group of institutions designated by Private Institutions of Social Solidarity (IPSS), which are not profit oriented. The purpose of this association is to help visually impaired in all that is necessary, possible and desirable.

This combination offers the visually impaired (blind and partially sighted) training in the areas of: Telephone / Receptionist, Massage Therapy, Trainers, computer operators, administrative personnel, workers and other technicians. There are around 60 disabled people who attend these courses every day. Generally these courses can last between one and three years. When it comes to a course of two or three years, the last year is done on a stage hoping to become the place of employment of the trainee, which often happens.

One reason that explains the lack of disabled employees is a lack of self-esteem, are already accustomed to discrimination, with difficulties in getting it convinced many that are not contracted and therefore not seeking employment.

Work at Home!

Increasingly, with new technology, you can work at home. Now, we can make of our bed, our room, our kitchen, even of our bathroom, our office. This is a great advantage for couples with children that need to be home to take care of them. Let see other advantages:

- Working in pajamas

Will no longer need waste time on choosing the clothes to take to work!

- Not having the boss always annoy us

Must be nice, not having the boss always around us!

- Having a very flexible schedule.

We can make your own schedule.

- Work fewer hours.

If we are well organized, can work less hours per day!

- Have more freedom to create.

Without the stress of pressure of time and people always press us, we become more able to take new ideas.

- Take time for family and for the house.

If we are at home, we can work, and at the same time, take care of our family!

Disadvantages

But there are also disadvantages, like any other kind of work. For example, we have no opportunity to relate to other people, we cannot leave the house much, which is frustrating. The opportunity to work in a team also is not the same. Working at home can also bring us some health problems, such as problems of vision, or column, because we are sitting so long.

As in everything there are good things and bad things when working at home!

Professions of the XXI century

Today, the professions are increasingly linked to technology. In some centuries ago people worked mainly with the force manual, professions primarily because of the primary sector, agriculture and fishing, so professions of support.

Today, it is a little different, but people work to get money for your day to day, but mainly to create wealth.

Everything changed with the entry of machinery in the nineteenth century in the works. No longer needed so much labour and people began to emigrate due to lack of jobs.

Currently dominates also the lack of employment, but there are professions that do not require the employee to leave the house, all the new technologies, the Internet.

The professions of the twenty-first century are mainly related to new technologies, with the main professions:

-Expert systems;

-Architect-of information;

-Programming;

-Developers of Web.

The entry of women into the labor market

In some centuries ago, the man was considered synonymous with intelligence work, and women served only to domestic, not needed or should the money. The entry of women into the labor market has been mainly in the nineteenth century with the emergence of the industry. Some females began to fail to be simple owners of the house and leave other professions that were poorly viewed by society, and became part of the labor market. However yields were lower than men.

Fortunately, the entry of women into work, not obstacle for the future, today, are increasingly women dominate the universities and the top of opposition occupy within enterprises in the higher courts, in ministries, research organizations in the technology peak, still flying jets, command troops and drill oil wells. Coming thus, its performance is sometimes higher than man.

Like some years ago, women today, are some barriers in regard to a "career of success," unlike the men. Some of them apart from having to manage their careers, they have household chores to perform.

We know the commitment, competence, dedication, creativity, responsibility, are characteristic of a committed worker, and is not to be only male characteristics. Experts considered that the woman in academia, is smarter and more committed, and should think like this because for centuries they have been referred to the silence and only a few years it has been recognized a few more basic rights. Artistic child labor

Another thing that makes me very concerned is this kind of work. It’s absurd to think in a child with 5 years or less, into a life so stressful because parents think they even go well in the school theater shows or sing well ... A child should play, or study if were the case. Is unfair for them have a life more complicated than their parents.

I did a search, and concluded that I am certain about my opinion, just check it out! ;)

With the development of the technology appeared to television, and this gave rise to a type of child labor that is not punishable by law and is paid. It is the artwork. We can present it every day in our homes, just connect the TV, or go to the cinema. The children are all over: ads, television, cinema, etc.

Some children begin this life with just a few months, others with 7 or 8 years, and others in adolescence. This intervenes in school and social life of these children. If the stress is enough for the adults who work in this way, imagine for children who have yet to go to school ... In addition to having a difficult job because they have to decorate their papers, write several hours a day, are combed and disguised , they still have to study to get good grades in school.

It is not an easy life, but what scares me is that many times are the parents who encourage their children to enter the world of television.
I think that you (mum’s and dad’s) should stop to think if that is really the best for your children

and let them decide what they want to do more when grown.
Do you agree with me?

Child Labor

Hello everyone ... Well, I have been thinking about the topics of my posts and I thought that this would be a good start ... Child labor is something that still shocks me too much, I think that children should play, not work ... Scares me thinking, for example, in my sister, with 7 years working to help the family, or simply because it is required! Our world has many unfair things, and this is one ... Check it out...

What is?

Child labor is all manner of work performed by children and teens below the legal minimum age allowed to work, according to the laws of each country.
Child labor in general is prohibited by law. Specifically, the cruelest forms of child labor are not only prohibited, but also a crime.

Where does it exist?

Child labor is common in developing countries. One of these countries is Brazil, in the poorest regions, this type of work is quite common. Most often occurs due to the need to help the family financially. Many of these families are generally of poor people who have many children.
The International Labor Organization says that, in general, work is prohibited before age 16. But in the case of the poorest countries it is accepted that young people can start working for 14 years. Anyway this organization also recommends that the heavier work that may endanger the health, safety or morality of the child, only should start working at 18 years.

The Worst Work

This Organization is also a selection of the worst work that child can do.
They are: the slave labor, the work arising from the traffic of children, the use of adolescents in armed conflict, prostitution and pornography to minors, the use of children for illicit activities such as drug traffic.

A work where children are most exploited is the exploitation of coal mines, because they are small, light and agile to be able to walk will be inside the mine.

Work that can be considered crime:

- Child labor slave.

- Ill - treatment.

- Exploitation of the prostitution of minors.

- Pornography for minors.

- Sale or trafficking of children.
